ROUNDUP

at Pittsburgh 7, St. Louis 1: Zach Duke, winless in three starts since July 19, outpitched Jeff Suppan, who had won three of four with a 1.95 earned-run average since the All-Star break. Duke gave up a run in the first on Albert Pujols’ double and Juan Encarnacion’s two-out single.

at Atlanta 2, Milwaukee 1: John Smoltz won his sixth consecutive decision, limiting the Brewers to five hits. He walked none and retired 18 batters in a row after giving up a leadoff single to Gabe Gross in the second inning.

at Philadelphia 6, Cincinnati 5: Aaron Rowand lined a run-scoring single to center with one out in the 14th inning to lift the Phillies, who overcame deficits in the eighth and ninth innings to win for the seventh time in 10 games.

at Houston 4, San Diego 2: Andy Pettitte hit the first homer of his career and matched a season high with 10 strikeouts to lead the Astros. Pettitte homered against Chan Ho Park, who pitched five innings in his first start since being treated for intestinal bleeding with blood transfusions last week.
