Man Dies in Crash With Allegedly Drunk Driver
A Santa Ana man was killed when his car was broadsided by an SUV whose allegedly drunk driver ran a red light, authorities said Saturday.
Sam Bunn, 22, was declared dead about 11:30 p.m. Friday at 1st Street and Standard Avenue after his Honda Civic was hit by a Toyota 4-Runner traveling east on 1st.
The driver of the Toyota, 24-year-old Yovany Maldonado, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, said Sgt. Gerry Serrano of the Santa Ana Police Department. Other felony charges, including vehicular manslaughter, may be added, he said.
Maldonado was treated at a hospital for moderate injuries, police said.
