Claudio Suarez converted a penalty kick and led Chivas USA to its second road win of the season, a 2-1 victory Saturday night over the Chicago Fire at Toyota Park.

Chivas USA (7-6-9) ended a six-game winless streak that included four consecutive ties.

In the 90th minute, Chicago’s Gonzalo Segares took down Chivas USA’s Jonathan Bornstein inside the penalty area. Suarez stutter-stepped and shot the ball into the upper right corner for a 2-1 lead.

Juan Pablo Garcia had given Chivas USA a 1-0 lead in the 77th minute. Bornstein crossed the ball to Garcia at the top of the box. He settled it and shot into the upper right corner past Fire goalkeeper Zach Thornton.

Chicago (5-8-7) tied the score about five minutes later in the 82nd minute when Ivan Guerrero passed the ball to Chris Rolfe, who battled Chivas USA goalie Preston Burpo. Rolfe beat him, sending the ball bouncing off Burpo and into the net.

The win was Chivas USA Coach Bob Bradley’s first against the Fire, the team he coached from 1998 to 2002.
