Permits, Inspections for Mountain Rentals
In an attempt to quell spats between residents and vacation renters in mountain communities, the Board of Supervisors approved an ordinance Tuesday that requires landlords to apply for permits and submit to inspections.
Landlords who rent to people for less than 30 days must pay $155 for the first inspection and $124 every other year. They also must have someone available 24 hours a day to respond to complaints.
The ordinance applies only to mountain areas, including Running Springs, Lake Arrowhead and unincorporated areas outside Big Bear Lake.
