Bomar Goes to I-AA School
Dismissed Oklahoma quarterback Rhett Bomar enrolled at Division I-AA Sam Houston State, where he doesn’t have to sit out a year but still must wait for NCAA eligibility clearance.
Bomar and a teammate were kicked off the Oklahoma team this month for violating NCAA work rules by accepting payment for more work than they performed at a car dealership.

Former New Mexico State players Mu’Ammar Ali and brothers Anthony and Vincent Thompson -- all Muslims -- sued the university and Coach Hal Mumme, saying they were dismissed from the team because of their religious beliefs.

Colt McCoy was selected as the starting quarterback for No. 3-ranked Texas, ending a battle with fellow freshman Jevan Snead.... In anticipation of tropical storm Ernesto, which could reach South Florida by today or Wednesday, No. 11 Miami will practice this morning but not again until at least Thursday. The Hurricanes play host to No. 12 Florida State on Monday.... Army will play in the Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego on Dec. 19 if it can finish at least 6-6. An official invitation is expected today.
