Share

Site -- Rice-Eccles Stadium, Salt Lake City.

Radio -- 830, 1700.

Records -- Galaxy 8-11-5, Real 8-11-5.

Record vs Salt Lake -- 2-1.

Update -- The teams have identical records and are tied for fifth place in the Western Conference with 29 points, but the Galaxy is coming off its most impressive victory of the season, a 5-2 rout of D.C. United on the road, while Real Salt Lake is trying to come to terms with a 6-0 loss at home to the New York Red Bulls. A win by Los Angeles combined with a loss by the Colorado Rapids at FC Dallas tonight could put the Galaxy into fourth place and improve its playoff chances. “It’s a big game,” Coach Frank Yallop said, “a six-point game, because we don’t want to lose to them.” The Galaxy will be without defender Ugo Ihemelu, who Tuesday was suspended for two games and fined $750 by the league for “serious foul play” on D.C. United midfielder Domenic Mediate, who suffered a broken leg Saturday when tackled from behind by Ihemelu. Also out for the Galaxy will be defender Troy Roberts (groin strain), midfielder Kyle Martino (recovering from hip surgery) and forward Cornell Glen (left knee sprain).
