Bryzgalov not yet cleared

Ilya Bryzgalov’s sore groin is improving, but not as fast as the Ducks had hoped.

Bryzgalov did not accompany the Ducks on their five-game, 10-day trip and has missed the last six games after aggravating the injured muscle Dec. 3 against the Kings.

Coach Randy Carlyle said he has received an encouraging report on the backup goaltender, who has appeared in only one game since Nov. 17.

“He’s working out,” he said. “Getting stronger. Positive signs.”

Carlyle hoped that Bryzgalov could join the team in San Jose but those plans dissipated Thursday.

“I thought there was an outside chance that he would be here yesterday to practice with us,” Carlyle said.

“That was the question I had two days ago and [the doctors] said no.”

It doesn’t appear that he’ll be ready for game action for at least another week, meaning that Michael Wall will continue to back up Jean-Sebastien Giguere.

The Ducks play host to Calgary on Monday and Dallas on Wednesday before a stretch of five consecutive road games.

Left wing Travis Moen remained in the lineup Saturday despite being bugged by flu symptoms that kept him out of the morning skate.

Moen has appeared in all 35 games.
