Leon Powe scored a career-high 32 points and California survived a late flurry from Stanford to win, 65-62, Thursday night at Berkeley, ending a six-game losing streak to its Bay Area rivals.

The Golden Bears (15-6, 9-3 Pac-10) played with poise down the stretch, making all six free throws in the final minute and stopping Stanford’s last-ditch effort. After Ayinde Ubaka’s two foul shots made it 65-62 with 13.5 seconds left, Stanford (12-8, 8-4) tried to tie it with a three-point shot.

Cal Coach Ben Braun chose not to order his team to foul and Ubaka knocked the ball away from Hernandez and into the hands of Eric Vierneisel, who ran out the clock to give the Bears their fifth straight win.

Arizona 70, Oregon 68 -- Mustafa Shakur made two free throws with nine seconds left to give the Wildcats the victory at Tucson.

Arizona (14-9, 7-5) led, 37-27, at halftime and had a double-digit lead several times during the game but had to overcome a five-point deficit in the final 1:52 to break a three-game losing streak, its longest since the 1991-92 season. It was the sixth consecutive loss for the Ducks (10-14, 4-8), and the fifth by seven points or less.

Arizona State 76, Oregon State 59 -- The Sun Devils (9-12, 3-9), who won for the only the third time in 12 games, handed the visiting Beavers (10-13, 3-9) their fifth consecutive loss and seventh in eight games.

Jeff Pendergraph, who had 18 points and 11 rebounds, made a short hook and Kevin Kruger made consecutive three-point baskets to give Arizona State a 57-40 lead with 12:13 remaining. Oregon State never got closer than 14 after that.
