19 Reported Killed in Raids Against Rebels

Seven Russian officers and 12 gunmen were believed killed when police stormed houses in a southern village to arrest insurgents, officials said.
Russian television showed police officers with automatic weapons dragging charred corpses away from a collapsed house in Tukui-Mekteb village in the Stavropol region.
Officials said fighters linked to the long-running Islamist insurgency in the nearby North Caucasus had been holed up in the village.
