Matee Ajavon scored 14 points Tuesday night to help No. 7 Rutgers defeat Villanova, 62-56, in a Big East Conference game at Piscataway, N.J.
The Scarlet Knights, 20-3 overall, 12-0 in the Big East, overcame a sluggish first half for their eighth consecutive victory. Jackie Adamshick scored 14 for Villanova (14-9, 5-7).
