Zarqawi Sentenced in Absentia to Death
From Times Wire Reports
A court sentenced the leader of Al Qaeda in Iraq, Abu Musab Zarqawi, and eight other men to death for plotting chemical attacks against sites in Jordan, including the U.S. Embassy.
Zarqawi and three others were sentenced in absentia. The foiled 2004 plot’s alleged mastermind, Azmi Jayousi, and four co-defendants were in the courtroom when the judge handed down the sentence.
It was Zarqawi’s third death penalty from Jordanian courts.
