From Times Staff Reports

Prosecutors charged a Corona man with copyright infringement Thursday after he allegedly uploaded a copy of “Walk the Line” that had been mailed to a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which awards the Oscars.

According to the complaint, Luis Ochoa, 25, posted a message online saying he had a copy of the Johnny Cash biopic; another computer user alerted the Motion Picture Assn. of America, which set up a server that appeared to allow users to illegally barter movies, and Ochoa allegedly uploaded the film.

Ochoa is scheduled to appear March 28 in federal court. He faces up to one year in prison and a $100,000 fine if convicted.
