Latta Leads No. 3 North Carolina

Ivory Latta scored 26 points and Camille Little had seven of her 16 in an early second-half run Friday night as No. 3 North Carolina broke open a close game and coasted to an 84-75 victory over Virginia Tech at Blacksburg, Va.

Latta made four three-point baskets and had five assists for the Tar Heels, who improved to 24-1 overall and 11-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Erlana Larkins scored 17 points for North Carolina.

Dawn Chriss led Virginia Tech (17-7, 4-7) with 18 points.

No. 23 Temple 59, St. Joseph’s 53 -- Candice Dupree scored 20 points and tied a career high with 17 rebounds to lead the Owls (19-6, 10-3) over the Hawks (16-8, 8-5) in an Atlantic 10 Conference game at Philadelphia.

Hillary Klimowicza led St. Joseph’s with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
