More Troops to Be Sent to Afghanistan
From Times Wire Reports
Australia will send an additional 200 military personnel to Afghanistan to assist in reconstruction efforts.
Prime Minister John Howard said the troops would come under the command of a Dutch-led provincial reconstruction team. Last month, Australia announced it would send 110 troops and two helicopters to Afghanistan, increasing its military commitment to 300.
Howard said the new contingent would be focused in the southern province of Oruzgan.
