Off-Duty Police Officer Is Shot in West L.A.
An off-duty Culver City police officer was shot in the left cheek while parking his car in West Los Angeles late Thursday, Los Angeles police said.
Police said the officer, who was not identified, was stable and conscious at a hospital late Thursday after several small-caliber rounds pierced his windshield as he was parking his car shortly after 8 p.m. near the intersection of West 18th Street and Holt Avenue.
The officer sought help from the security guards of a nearby health club. A spokesman for the LAPD said the officer did not see his attackers, and investigators had no suspects and no motive.
