Murphy-Led USC Overruns Oregon

Eshaya Murphy scored 21 of her game-high 23 points in the second half, leading USC to a come-from-behind 69-64 Pacific 10 Conference women’s victory over Oregon on Thursday at Eugene, Ore.

Camille LeNoir added 14 points for the Trojans (17-9 overall and 11-6 Pacific 10), who shot 53% in the second half to overcome a double-digit halftime deficit.

Chelsea Wagner had 17 points and Brandi Davis added 12 for Oregon (14-13, 5-12), which has lost four consecutive and six of its last seven.

The Trojans trailed by as many as 12 points in the second half before Murphy triggered the comeback.

She had a layup and a three-point play to bring the Trojans to within 49-44 with 11:40 left. After Markisha Lea tied it for USC on a layup with 6:46 left, Murphy scored eight straight points for the Trojans -- including two three-point baskets to give them a 61-59 lead.

There were eight lead changes in the final 6:28 until LeNoir’s shot gave USC the lead for good at 65-64 with 2:06 left.

Murphy, who also had 10 rebounds, then made one of her five steals, which led to an easy basket that gave the Trojans a 67-64 lead with 1:01 left. LeNoir then sank two free throws with 25 seconds left.

UCLA 72, Oregon State 59 -- Lisa Willis had 24 points and eight rebounds and the Bruins opened the second half with a 10-2 run en route to victory at Corvallis, Ore.

Noelle Quinn added 17 points, 14 rebounds and four assists for the Bruins (16-10, 11-6 Pac-10).

Kim Butler tied a career-high with 31 points for the Beavers (12-13, 6-11).

MEN

UC Irvine 82, UC Davis 68 -- The Anteaters (16-11) were 21 of 21 from the free-throw line in beating the Aggies (8-17) at Davis, Calif.

Darren Fells led the Anteaters with 17 points and 13 rebounds, and Patrick Sanders added 16 points, six rebounds, four assists.

Freshman David Carter had a career-high 19 points for the Aggies (8-17).

UC Irvine’s running game was the difference in the second half as the Anteaters increased their lead to 23 points with less than 12 minutes to play.

The Aggies cut UC Irvine’s lead to 12 on five occasions, but could get no closer.

Cal State Fullerton 80, UC Santa Barbara 76 -- Bobby Brown scored 25 points and Jamaal Brown finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds at Santa Barbara to help the Titans (13-11, 5-8 Big West) end the Gauchos’ five-game winning streak.

Chris Devine had 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Gauchos (12-12, 4-7).

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 59, UC Riverside 55 -- Derek Stockalper had 16 points and 14 rebounds and the Mustangs (8-16, 6-5 Big West) overcame a six-point halftime deficit to defeat the Highlanders (4-20, 3-9) in overtime at San Luis Obispo.

The game was tied, 52-52, with 1:26 left in regulation but neither team could score again.

Senior guard Steve Williams had 16 points and eight rebounds for Riverside.
