Freshman reserve Anthony Goods scored on a tip-in with 3.7 seconds left to give Stanford a 39-37 victory over Washington State on Saturday at Pullman, Wash.

Chris Hernandez, who led Stanford (14-11, 10-6 Pac-10) with 10 points, missed a 15-foot jump shot that Goods converted when no defenders blocked him out.

The total of 76 points was the lowest in a Pac-10 game since Oregon State beat Oregon, 29-23, on March 23, 1984, which was before the shot clock was instituted.

Stanford’s 39 points was the team’s lowest score in a win since a 38-33 victory over UCLA in 1947. Stanford had not scored fewer points in any game since a 42-34 loss to UCLA in 1982.

Josh Akognon led the Cougars (11-14, 4-12) with 11 points. Robbie Cowgill added 10.

Washington State had not lost a game with so few points allowed since losing, 37-36, at Washington in 1969-70.

The Cougars, who lost their previous game, 43-41, to California on Thursday, fell to 0-5 in two-point games.

Stanford shot 32.6%, including 30% on three-pointers (three for 10). Washington State shot 32.7%, including two of 17 on three-pointers.

Arizona 68, Arizona State 47 -- The Wildcats used a relentless defense to rout the visiting Sun Devils (10-15, 4-12), forcing them into a season-high 26 turnovers while allowing only 18 baskets.

Arizona (17-10, 10-6), making a late push to secure an NCAA tournament berth, won for the fourth time in five games.

The Wildcats are looking to extend their 21-year string of NCAA tournament appearances, the nation’s longest active streak.

The Wildcats have won 22 of the last 23 meetings with their in-state rival, including 10 in a row. Sun Devil Coach Rob Evans is 1-16 against Arizona.

Arizona’s best defensive sequence came late in the first half.

First, Ivan Radenovic stripped Kevin Kruger of the ball and threw a 50-foot bounce pass to Hassan Adams, who dunked to give the Wildcats a 21-7 lead.

Three possessions later, Adams blocked a lay-up by Antwi Atuahene, setting up a 16-foot jump shot by Fendi Onobun to give the Wildcats a 27-7 lead.
