Schools Chief to Allow Review of Recent Audits
- Share via
Los Angeles schools Supt. Roy Romer met with City Controller Laura Chick on Monday and promised he would let her examine recent audits of the school district. But he stopped short of agreeing to let her perform her own audit.
The previous audits will be handed over to Chick, although school officials believe she has no standing to ask for them under California’s Public Records Act.
Romer told Chick he opposes an audit by her office because it would be too expensive, said Stephanie Brady, a school district spokeswoman.
Chick said the meeting was cordial and generally positive.
