Behaving Badly Favored

A New York-bred, Behaving Badly, will make her first start in the state and will be heavily favored to win the $150,000 Genuine Risk Breeders’ Cup Handicap today at Belmont Park.

Trained by Bob Baffert for owners Patti and Hal Earnhardt III, the 5-year-old Pioneering mare has won seven of 10 and will have only three opponents in the Genuine Risk, a Grade II at six furlongs.

The race is not part of a pick six, with a carry-over of more than $209,000.

Garrett Gomez, who rode at Hollywood Park on Sunday, will be aboard Behaving Badly today and they will break from the rail in the Genuine Risk, which is the third on the program.

A winner of five of six in Argentina, Stormy Kiss will be seeking her second win in three starts in the United States since being purchased privately by Gretchen and Roy Jackson’s Lael Stables.

Javier Castellano will ride for trainer Barclay Tagg, and Stormy Kiss is drawn directly outside Behaving Badly. The field is completed by Khalila and Swap Fliparoo.

The Belmont card also includes the $65,000 Castle Royale, a 1 1/16 -mile turf race for 3-year-old fillies. Contenders among the nine entrants include Somethinaboutbetty, Eden’s Causeway, Pure Incentive, Miss Shop and Zaynab.

Race of the day: Simply Because, who won by 2 1/2 lengths in her turf debut May 28, will seek a repeat against five opponents in the eighth race today at Hollywood Park.

Patrick Valenzuela will ride the 4-year-old Seattle Slew filly for owners John and Jerry Amerman and trainer David Hofmans in the $60,000 allowance at five furlongs.

Vino Tinto, Starkay, Arnprior, Reality Show and Hello Lucky are also scheduled to run.

One for the road: Don’t Get Mad is a big fan of Churchill Downs and can score in his comeback in the ninth race today.

Rafael Bejarano will be aboard the 4-year-old Stephen Got Even colt, who has won four of five over the surface, for owner B. Wayne Hughes and trainer Paul McGee in the $66,000 optional claimer at 7 1/2 furlongs.

Exotically speaking: A late pick four using J J Jake and Dr. Seacliff in the sixth; Souvenir Zone, Queen’s Image and Gunslick in the seventh; Simply Because, Starkay, Arnprior and Reality Show in the eighth; and Coco Belle in the ninth.
