Powerful image of injured soldier
Re “Injured in Iraq, a Soldier Reclaims His Independence,” Column One, July 4
I opened The Times this glorious Fourth of July morning, absorbed the photo of Spc. Bryan Anderson in the arms of his buddy and burst into tears. Of all the images of war, never have I seen a more effective image of loss, joy and loving camaraderie. My thanks to Anderson, the men who saved him, his gifted therapists and supportive parents. Collectively they put this nation’s 230th birthday into clear and courageous perspective.
