The Perfect Lounger

Share

We gave David Mocarski, a honcho at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, a list of must-haves for the beach chair of our dreams. He went to his drawing board and came up with an archetype. It’s not just function over form. “I wanted the language of the chair to be reflective of our bodies and the movement of the breeze over our bodies,” Mocarski says. “I wanted it to suggest movement and expression, as well as a relationship between the water and the horizon line.” Then there’s function: It can cool a drink, charge a laptop and blast tunes from an MP3 player. What’s more, he says, it provides a “structurally strong and extremely comfortable seating experience.”
