at Chicago 4, Houston 1: Carlos Zambrano (10-3) won his seventh straight decision and Michael Barrett and Aramis Ramirez hit back-to-back homers for Chicago. Zambrano gave up one run and two hits in eight innings. He struck out 10 and walked four.
at San Francisco 9, San Diego 3: Barry Bonds hit his 722nd career home run, his two-run shot starting a string of three consecutive homers by the Giants off reliever Brian Sweeney in the eighth inning. Ray Durham homered on the next pitch, then Pedro Feliz did the same -- the first time since Aug. 3, 2004, against Cincinnati, that the Giants hit three consecutive homers.
Pittsburgh 5, at Florida 3: Jeromy Burnitz’s single through a drawn-in infield drove in the tie-breaking run in the ninth inning for the Pirates.
