More Problems in Closed Sections of the Big Dig
The discovery of more problems is delaying the reopening of Big Dig tunnels that were closed to traffic after falling ceiling panels killed a Boston motorist earlier this month, Gov. Mitt Romney said.
On Monday, inspectors found three loose bolts in a ceiling panel in the westbound entrance to the Ted Williams Tunnel. Authorities diverted traffic around the questionable panel and shored it up with a portable support.
Parts of the underground highway system have been closed since several 3-ton concrete panels crushed a car July 10, killing 38-year-old Milena Del Valle.
