at Washington 4, San Francisco 3: Austin Kearns’ sacrifice fly off Giants closer Armando Benitez capped a two-run rally in the ninth, lifting the Nationals to their fifth win in a row. Barry Bonds went 0 for 2 before coming out of the game in the ninth because of a sore hamstring.
at Houston 8, Cincinnati 5: Lance Berkman homered twice and Craig Biggio added a solo shot as the Astros rallied from a 5-1 deficit. The Astros’ bullpen hasn’t given up a run in 20 1/3 innings, its longest scoreless streak of the season.
at Philadelphia 6, Arizona 4: Chase Utley hit a three-run homer to extend his hitting streak to 26 games. Utley’s 19th homer of the season in the second inning tied him for the fourth-longest hitting streak in Phillies history.
St. Louis 6, at Colorado 1: Aaron Miles hit his first home run of the season for the Cardinals. Miles’ two-run homer was his first since Aug. 25, 2005, when he was with the Rockies.
Pittsburgh 8, at Milwaukee 4: Jason Bay homered to spark a three-run, fifth-inning rally and the Pirates beat All-Star Chris Capuano.
at New York 1, Chicago 0: Jose Valentin had an RBI single with two out in the 10th inning and Mets rookie John Maine pitched seven innings of three-hit ball (all soft singles).
