There’s No News That’s Good News
The first item in last Saturday’s Newswire reported the sentencing of a former NFL player (and Super Bowl MVP) who has been convicted of cocaine distribution. The second item listed three former local major college football players (including one NFL athlete) who have been charged with an assault. Third was the story of two current NFL players who have just pleaded guilty to misdemeanor criminal charges. The fourth listing described a recent police report alleging that a pro football player “threw his wife out the door of their home.” The fifth news item did not involve an NFL athlete: instead, it told the story of a former major college basketball player who has been “convicted of murdering a teenage woman in a botched drug robbery.”
And to think I doubted that sports builds character!
