FC Barcelona to Play Chivas at Coliseum

Mexican soccer teams Chivas and Club America will play FC Barcelona, the reigning Spanish League and European champion, during FC Barcelona’s 2006 summer tour of the U.S., officials said.

FC Barcelona will face CD Guadalajara Chivas at the Coliseum on Aug. 6 as part of a doubleheader that includes a Major League Soccer match between Chivas USA and the New England Revolution.

The Spanish club will take on Club America in Houston on Aug. 9 at Reliant Stadium as part of a doubleheader with the Houston Dynamo and the defending MLS Cup champion Galaxy.

It will complete its United States tour on Aug. 12 in a match against the New York Red Bulls at Giants Stadium.

FC Barcelona has won 18 Spanish league titles, two European championships and features Brazilian sensation Ronaldinho, considered by many to be the world’s best player.

Chivas and Club America each have won 10 Mexican league titles.
