Two Deny Charges of Helping Inmates Escape

Two people were arraigned Thursday in Superior Court on charges of helping three inmates to escape April 23 from the county jail in Otay Mesa.
Leticia Gonzalez, 46, and attorney Benjamin Sanchez, 68, pleaded not guilty. Gonzalez is the mother of Joe Morales, one of the escapees; Sanchez represented another, Mark Estrada.
Morales, 24, charged with murder, and George Munoz, 31, charged with child molestation, are still at large. Estrada, 18, held on murder charges, was recaptured the day after the escape.
