THE recent Broadway drama “Rabbit Hole” in its West Coast premiere, a 2006 Olivier Award-winning comedy from London and a new one-woman show written by and starring Carrie Fisher are among the eclectic offerings in the Geffen Playhouse’s 2006-07 season.
The season opener will be “Rabbit Hole,” David Lindsay-Abaire’s exploration of a couple’s roller-coaster ride through loss (Sept. 13-Oct. 22). Although no casting has been announced for the Geffen production, Cynthia Nixon won a Tony Award this month for her performance in the New York run. The American premiere of Gerald Sibleyras’ Olivier-winning “Heroes,” translated by Tom Stoppard, will run April 18-May 27.
The Geffen’s second stage, the Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater, will feature Fisher’s world premiere, “Wishful Drinking” (Oct. 14-Dec. 17), and the West Coast premiere of Neil LaBute’s “Fat Pig” (March 16-May 20).
Other mainstage offerings will be the West Coast premiere of Jeffrey Hatcher’s “A Picasso” (Nov. 15-Dec. 24), David Mamet’s “Speed-the-Plow” (Feb. 7-March 18) and “George Gershwin Alone,” with Hershey Felder (June 13-July 22).
