Jazzing up the Bowl

Re “Getting a Splash From the Past,” June 20

Kudos to Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, who never took his eye off Hollywood Bowl beautification. He’s the one who spearheaded the rehab of its Streamline Moderne entrance fountain, now lighted and running after many years of neglect and near obscurity. Although it would require some loss of revenue -- by surrendering a few of those high-priced boxes -- wouldn’t it be wonderful to bring back the reflecting pool that once graced the front of the stage? It would be another step in restoring the bowl’s early elegance and might even improve the sound that reaches out to an appreciative audience.
