Gov. George E. Pataki was released from a hospital after 18 days of treatment for appendicitis and abdominal complications that followed surgery.

“It’s great to feel the fresh air and sunshine,” the Republican governor said as he left New York-Presbyterian/University Hospital of Columbia and Cornell. “I’m not 100%, but I’m a lot better than I was a few days ago.”
