THE Los Angeles Philharmonic released final details of its Hollywood Bowl summer programming Wednesday. Much of the schedule has been available since early February to the orchestra’s subscribers and visitors to its website.

Philharmonic Assn. President Deborah Borda announced that John Mauceri, who will conclude his 16th year as music director of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra this summer, will become founding director of the orchestra at the end of the season and conduct it for selected concerts in coming seasons.

In addition to opening the new season with a gala on June 23, Mauceri will conduct a concert performance of Puccini’s opera “Tosca” with Patricia Racette, Frank Porretta and James Morris on July 9.

Other news Wednesday included the extension of Leonard Slatkin’s contract as principal guest conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic for another year, through 2007. Slatkin is the first conductor to hold this position, created in 2005.

His first concert of the summer, on July 11, will feature Beethoven’s Eighth and Ninth symphonies.

Additionally, Joana Carneiro, Miguel Harth-Bedoya, Hugh Wolff and Xian Zhang will join the roster of guest conductors previously announced.

In his first year of consulting, Christian McBride, the Philharmonic’s creative chair for jazz, has programmed eight concerts, to kick off with a Latin jazz program on July 12. The KCRW World Festival will start its six-concert Sunday evening series June 25 with a salute to Brazilian musician Sergio Mendes.

Borda also announced that capital improvements scheduled as part of the Hollywood Bowl Entrance Project will include the restoration of the George Stanley-designed 1940 “Muse of Music” Fountain, a new marquee in a Moderne style to match the structures inside the park and enhanced landscaping. Rios Clementi Hale Studios will be the project design team.

Subscription packages, from $66 to $980, are available online at www.hollywoodbowl.com or by phone at (323) 850-2000. Single tickets, priced from $1 to $280, will go on sale May 6.
