Officers Kill Woman After High-Speed Chase
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
California Highway Patrol officers shot and killed a woman suspected of stealing a car after a high-speed chase Thursday.
The woman led police on a 30-mile pursuit after officers in Concord, Calif., tried to pull her over. A passenger fled the car during the chase.
The CHP eventually took over, following the woman over the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge and into a dead-end street in the Mission Terrace neighborhood, where she began ramming police cars. Officers shot her multiple times, a CHP spokesman said.
