A single-engine plane crash killed two occupants, authorities said after locating the fallen aircraft Wednesday.

The plane, believed to be headed to Ontario from Wichita Falls, Texas, last communicated with air traffic controllers Tuesday afternoon, shortly before it dropped from radar, according to San Bernardino County sheriff’s spokeswoman Jodi Miller.

Authorities received a call from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection at Glen Oak about 5 p.m. after inmates on work detail witnessed the plane’s descent.
