Helicopter Crash Kills Two Near Blythe
Two people were killed when their helicopter plummeted into a remote area about 200 miles east of Los Angeles, sheriff’s officials said Tuesday.
The helicopter went down Monday off Interstate 10 in Desert Center, near Blythe, said Riverside County Sheriff’s Sgt. Earl Quinata.
The Robinson R44 was registered in Canada, said Allen Kenitzer, a Federal Aviation Administration spokesman.
“There were only two occupants in the helicopter, and we don’t have an ID or cause of death yet,” Quinata said Tuesday.
Calls about the crash came into the department around 2:30 p.m., he said.
