Boy Bitten by Bat Has Rabies; Outlook Grim

A teenager bitten by a bat while he slept in his Houston-area home was in critical condition with rabies, health officials said.
The boy did not know he had been bitten until he got sick, which Harris County veterinarian Dawn Blackmar said was not unusual because bats have “very, very tiny” teeth.
Harris County Health Department official Dr. Herminia Palacio said the boy’s chance of survival was poor.
