Auto Burglary Suspect Held by Bystanders Dies
A man died late Saturday after bystanders allegedly caught him breaking into a car and held him to the ground while awaiting police, said police Cmdr. Dan McDermott.
The man, whose identity was being withheld pending notification of relatives, was allegedly breaking into a vehicle in the 2600 block of North Larchmont Avenue. Bystanders chased and captured the man. But before police arrived, the bystanders noticed the 40-year-old was having trouble breathing and called paramedics, McDermott said.
Paramedics arrived before police and took the man to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, McDermott said.
