Mother Pleads Not Guilty in Baby’s Death
A Bell Gardens woman charged with fatally injuring her 6-month-old son pleaded not guilty Thursday in San Bernardino County Superior Court.
Martha Castro, 28, entered the plea two days after her son, Robert, died at Loma Linda University Medical Center.
Ontario police said the baby was found at Castro’s boyfriend’s home Sunday night with several skull fractures, broken ribs and indications of extensive sexual abuse. He died Tuesday.
Castro could face 25 years to life in prison if convicted, a San Bernardino County deputy district attorney said.
