Head of community colleges to step down
From Times staff and wire reports
Darroch “Rocky” Young, chancellor of the Los Angeles Community College District, disclosed Thursday that he plans to step down from his $240,000-a-year post at the end of next summer.
Young, 58, promoted to the helm of the nine-school system in May 2005, told employees of his plans via e-mail. He said he believed that he will have accomplished his primary goals for the district, or will have put plans in place to do, by the time he leaves. He said he wanted to teach and spend time with his family.
