The Times needs a different owner
Re “L.A. tycoons join bidding for Tribune,” Nov. 9
Please hurry up and sell the Tribune Co. or the Los Angeles Times to new owners and avoid destroying a Los Angeles civic treasure. Do not turn The Times into the journalistic equivalent of the bumbling Chicago Cubs. Your prompt attention to this matter is sincerely appreciated by millions of Southern Californians, as well as others throughout the country.

As a longtime reader of the Los Angeles Times, I have been very concerned about the changes of staff, format and a font size that nearly precludes readability. My advice is that if the Chicago-based Tribune Co. wishes to make a profit from this paper, they better hurry and sell it while it is still worth something!

The removal of Editor Dean Baquet for recognizing the importance of a quality newspaper in this region is disconcerting. I am not canceling my subscription today only because the Tribune is already talking about selling the paper to a local interest. If it doesn’t do that soon, I’m out.

I look forward to the Cubs being renamed the Los Angeles Cubs of Chicago.
