Baker released by Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves released former All-Star forward Vin Baker on Monday.

Baker, whose career was derailed by alcoholism and depression, did not play in any of the first six games after making the team on a non-guaranteed contract in training camp.

Baker, 34, has played for the Clippers, Houston Rockets, New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, Seattle SuperSonics and Milwaukee Bucks.

Indiana Pacers guard Stephen Jackson pleaded not guilty in Rochester Hills, Mich., to a charge that he violated his probation last month when he was accused of firing a gun outside a strip club in Indianapolis.

Jackson could face up to three months in jail if found guilty of violating terms of his probation, which he is serving for his role in the 2004 brawl at Auburn Hills, Mich.

New Orleans Hornets forward David West will miss at least two games because of a strained right forearm, suffered during Friday’s loss at Portland....
