Spurs rally from 19-point deficit

Tim Duncan had 19 points and 15 rebounds, but Tuesday’s game began to turn when he and the starters were on the bench as the San Antonio Spurs rallied from 19 points down to beat the Rockets, 92-84, at Houston.

The starters were benched after Houston built a 74-55 lead with 4:55 left in the third quarter.

The Spurs’ reserves then went on a 20-1 run, holding the Rockets without a field goal for eight minutes. Francisco Elson had 12 points, Beno Udrih 11 and Robert Horry 10 off the bench in San Antonio’s seventh consecutive victory over Houston.

Tracy McGrady scored 26 for the Rockets, 21 in the first half.

New Orleans 94, Charlotte 85 -- Scoring the Hornets’ first 20 points, Peja Stojakovic finished with a career-high 42, including 11 during a 13-4 fourth-quarter run, to help the home team end a three-game losing streak.

Charlotte’s Emeka Okafor had 25 points, 16 rebounds and a career-high seven blocked shots.

Denver 112, Miami 105 -- Carmelo Anthony scored 33 points and the Nuggets went ahead to stay with an 11-0 third-quarter run to hand the Heat its second consecutive home loss.

Andre Miller had 29 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds for Denver. Dwyane Wade had 37 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds for Miami, which played without Shaquille O’Neal, who has a hyperextended left knee.

Golden State 110, Toronto 99 -- Baron Davis had 11 of his 22 points during an 18-3 fourth-quarter run for the host Warriors.

Chris Bosh had 23 points and 22 rebounds for Toronto.

Dallas 111, Chicago 99 -- Dirk Nowitzki had 31 points and the host Mavericks won their third in a row after an 0-4 start. Kirk Hinrich scored 25 for the Bulls.

Minnesota 101, Portland 89 -- Ricky Davis had 27 points to help the host Timberwolves end a four-game losing streak.

Milwaukee 103, Atlanta 101 -- Michael Redd converted a three-point play with 27 seconds left and finished with 30 points to help the visiting Bucks end a four-game losing streak.

Portland forward Darius Miles will be sidelined for the season after undergoing a second surgery in less than a year on his right knee. Meanwhile, a woman filed a $2-million civil suit against Trail Blazers forward Zach Randolph, claiming he sexually assaulted her Aug. 14.
