Teachers OK measure opposed by union

Los Angeles Unified School District teachers narrowly passed a referendum that union leadership had opposed.
The result, announced Thursday, calls for strict limits on what the union would support in any schools that the mayor would control through a new law. Turnout was less than 20%. The measure won 50.22% of the vote.
