School evacuated after hand grenade is found
A dummy hand grenade was found Monday morning at Peninsula High School with a note saying more of the devices were hidden on campus, officials said.
Classes were canceled, but a search did not uncover any more grenades.
Students were bused to nearby Ridgecrest Intermediate School in Rancho Palos Verdes, where they met their parents, Sheriff’s Lt. Greg Ahn said.
No motive and no suspects were known, he said.
A student found the grenade and note and informed the administrative office, Ahn said. The sheriff’s bomb squad determined that the grenade was a dummy.
