Atlantic hurricane season ends--quietly

Las spring forecasters predicted a very active Atlantic hurricane season in 2006, with as many as 17 named storms. As the season ends today, nine named storms have developed--the fewest in the Atlantic since 1997. Here are three factors that played a major role in producing a quiet U.S. season.
