Player of the year

In 98 games with Las Vegas, the left-handed-hitting Loney batted .380 with 33 doubles, eight home runs and 67 runs batted in. He won the Pacific Coast League batting title, finishing 43 points ahead of second-place finisher Albert Callaspo. Loney was the Dodgers’ first-round selection in the 2002 draft (19th overall). He has a .280 career average in the minor leagues over four seasons with 109 doubles, 10 triples, 27 homers and 181 RBIs.

MARK ALEXANDER

Pitcher of the year

Alexander, who was signed by Dodgers scout Mitch Webster after being selected in the 20th round of the 2004 draft, spent the majority of the season with the double-A Jacksonville Suns, for whom he posted a 3-2 record with 26 saves and an 0.96 earned-run average. His 27 saves led all Dodgers minor leaguers for a second consecutive season. Alexander had a streak of 25 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings between May 21 and Sept. 1. During that span, he made 20 relief appearances and collected 17 saves.
