Lady’s Secret Is Run Today

Share

Star Parade and Healthy Addiction, who have combined to win eight of 16 starts on the main track at Santa Anita, will meet again in the $250,000 Lady’s Secret Breeders’ Cup Handicap today.

A Grade I at 1 1/16 miles, the Lady’s Secret drew only three other fillies and mares -- Neuilly, Downthedustyroad and Hollywood Story -- for its 14th running.

Owned by Pamela Ziebarth and trained by John Sadler, Healthy Addiction has won five of 10 in Arcadia, including the Santa Margarita Handicap earlier this year. First or second in 15 of 21 in her career, the 5-year-old Boston Harbor mare will have Victor Espinoza aboard.

Star Parade, a 7-year-old, Argentine-bred mare, has won three of six at Santa Anita, but will be trying to end a three-race losing streak in the Lady’s Secret. Owned by Gary Tanaka and trained by Darrell Vienna, Star Parade, whose last victory came in the Hawthorne Handicap on May 7 at Hollywood Park, will have Martin Pedroza aboard.

Race of the day: Discreet Cat will be a very short price to remain unbeaten in his fifth career start when he takes on five outclassed opponents in the $150,000 Jerome Breeders’ Cup Handicap today at Belmont Park. Owned by Godolphin Stable and trained by Saeed bin Suroor, the 3-year-old Forestry colt will be ridden by Garrett Gomez in the Grade II at one mile. Discreet Cat has won his four races by a combined 24 1/2 lengths.

One for the road: Longer Walk goes turf to dirt and should get a favorable pace to set up his late run in the fifth race at Golden Gate Fields. Apprentice Luis Martinez will ride the 4-year-old Downtown Seattle gelding.

Exotically speaking: A pick three using Texas Kitty in the fourth, Melodious, Illuminise, Del Mar Cat and Moogie in the fifth and Tizthen and Moujane in the sixth.

Winners: (previous day/meet total): 5/16. Money: (previous day/meet total): $21.80/$74.40. Total money bet: $70.
