Colt Brennan threw for 409 yards and five first-half touchdowns as Hawaii coasted past Division I-AA Eastern Illinois, 44-9, on Saturday night.

The Warriors (2-2) aired it out against the Panthers (2-3), scoring early and often. Hawaii threw 38 passes and called only one run play in the first half, while jumping out to a 34-9 lead.

Brennan passed for 369 yards in the one-sided half and led the Warriors to a 32-point lead before being taken out midway through the third quarter.

He had scoring passes of 29, 16, four, 43 and 18 yards. The longest two were to Ian Sample, who finished with six catches for 122 yards.

With his performance, Brennan moved into third place on Hawaii’s all-time passing list.

In only 16 games, Brennan has racked up 5,744 passing yards, breaking Garrett Gabriel’s mark of 5,631 yards set from 1987-90. Brennan is 294 yards short of tying Dan Robinson for second but still far behind Timmy Chang’s 17,072, an NCAA record.
