Na Leads With a 62
Kevin Na, who has had an injury-plagued year on the PGA Tour, shot a course-record-tying 62 Thursday at Empire Lakes Golf Course in Rancho Cucamonga to take a two-shot lead after the first round of the Mark Christopher Charity Classic.
Na, who lives in Rancho Cucamonga, holds a two-shot lead over Chez Reavie, Jason Allred and Bob Heintz, who shot seven-under 64s.
Na had nine birdies without a bogey in his first tournament since April.
He broke his hand in a car-door accident in January and tried to play through the pain in nine events on the PGA Tour before quitting to let his hand recover. He plans to return to the big tour next week in Las Vegas.
Na, 23, skipped his senior year at Diamond Bar High to turn professional at 17 and began playing the PGA Tour full time in 2004.
