Man Charged in Store Clerk’s Beating Death

A 32-year-old man accused of beating a convenience store clerk to death with a baseball bat was charged Tuesday with murder and felony vandalism.
Frank Erik Kaatz allegedly beat Hirwan Ediriweera Friday at an AM/PM market in the 20400 block of Devonshire Street.
Kaatz served seven years for a 1993 robbery in which he stabbed a cashier at a 7-Eleven store. He will be arraigned Nov. 19 and is in custody in lieu of $2-million bail.
