Competition -- Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

Update -- The Galaxy plays Houston twice in the space of four days, starting tonight when the Dynamo provides the opposition in the semifinals of the U.S. Open Cup. The Galaxy has won the knockout tournament twice, in 2001 and 2005, and a victory tonight would put the club in the Sept. 27 final and position it to become only the second MLS team to win the competition three times. The Chicago Fire, which plays D.C. United in tonight’s other semifinal, won the Open Cup in 1998, 2000 and 2003. If the Fire wins, it will be the host team for the final. If not, the final will go to either Carson or Houston. The Galaxy plays Houston again Sunday at 5 p.m. in a league match.
